Volunteering Matters has been leading UK volunteering in policy and practice for over 55 years. We develop and deliver effective volunteer-led solutions to some of the most significant challenges facing individuals and their communities today. We know, through years of successful work, that investing in people through the power of volunteering makes a tangible difference; improving health and wellbeing, building stronger more cohesive communities and achieving lasting results.

Capacity Building: Volunteering in Social Care

Are you passionate about volunteering?
Do you understand the challenges facing the Social Care sector?
Can you bring people together to find innovative ways of involving volunteers in Social Care?
Volunteering Matters are looking for an experienced and dynamic Development Officer to join our delivery team in Newcastle.

Volunteering Matters is working in partnership with Newcastle City Council to strengthen the volunteering infrastructure around health and social care across the City, building capacity within organisations and identifying new ways to involve volunteers.

This is a capacity building project and will focus on creating and strengthening networks, raising the profile of the impact of volunteers within social care and promoting best practice.

We are looking for someone to coordinate this work who can work flexibly and creatively, taking a solution focused approach and demonstrating an understanding and commitment to our organisational values.

Your role will be to promote the benefits of volunteering within social care, and bring people together to translate ideas into action. Able to understand the aims, opportunities and challenges faced by a range of stakeholders, you will encourage and enthuse them to engage with this project.

A skilled communicator, you should have a passion for volunteering and the impact it can have on people’s lives and the community we live in.

Appointment to this position is subject to an enhanced disclosure check (DBS). Having a conviction will not necessarily cause a bar to employment.

In return for your commitment we offer 25 days holiday per year (FTE) plus discretionary festive leave + public holidays. We also offer a 3% employer pension contribution, flexible working opportunities and enhanced employee benefits.

Your supporting statement is of equal importance to us as your CV and is a key part of our shortlisting process. It is an opportunity for you to outline your experience and credentials directly to the details of the post.
