This is a time flexible opportunity to enhance and manage an internal bookkeeping system in a progressive volunteer driven maritime charity, which is recognised across the country as a leading restorer of historic boats.
The charity operates from the “Fishermans Workshop” and adjacent Boathouse at Wapping Street, South Shields, which is open to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday each week
NEMT has a membership base of 140 of which many are drawn from the local community of South Tyneside.
We need a volunteer to support with the following tasks
- fulfilling the bookkeeping role;
- managing petty cash and membership payments,
- recording and preparing invoices for payment and ensuring probity.
- Preparing accounts for trustee meetings and monthly presentation to the charity’s accountant
Skills
- working knowledge of bookkeeping and accurate numeracy skills
- self organisation
- time management skills
- ability to participate in meetings and answer questions on NEMT finance
