Environment Volunteer

We are an independent charity, working towards a vibrant, diverse & sustainable future for Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Ouseburn Valley. We work in partnership with volunteers, the local authority, and the business community to enhance the physical, social and economic environment of the Valley, whilst promoting and preserving the area’s rich heritage and valued ecosystem.

Volunteers are essential to the work that we do. You can help to ensure that all our work in the Valley is innovative, imaginative, creative, inclusive, secure, and sustainable. In turn, we hope volunteering will help you to develop new skills and interests, meet friendly, like-minded people, and gain confidence and a sense of well-being.

Environment Volunteer

Our friendly team carries out practical conservation, gardening and maintenance tasks throughout the year in Ouseburn’s green spaces. You will be helping us to keep the area safe and welcoming for people and for wildlife.

Activities are carried out under the guidance of our volunteer supervisors and can include planting, maintaining shrub beds, keeping footpaths and steps clear, litter-picking and creating wildlife friendly habitats.

We will make sure you have all the tools, knowledge and training that you need, but the role will suit people who are:

• Enthusiastic about working outdoors in all seasons
• Happy to work as part of a team and learn new skills
• Interested in practical conservation and the natural world
