Local fundraising groups are the face of Myeloma UK in the community, raising money and the profile of the charity. Groups raise funds through their own events to support people living with myeloma and their families.
We want to work together with people from all communities and backgrounds to help people affected by myeloma and related conditions. We’re committed to providing a quality volunteering experience to all volunteers.
What
you will be doing
- Recruiting and supporting new members of the local fundraising group
- Leading the fundraising group, organising and attending regular meetings
- Planning, organising and promoting fundraising events and collections with other group members
- Ensuring the group’s activities comply with all relevant legislation, with support from the Community Fundraiser
- Keeping the records of the group’s accounts and banking money raised
- Acting as an ambassador for Myeloma UK by building community networks - e.g. local schools, businesses and community groups
- Liaising with the local Community Fundraiser and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that group member details are kept up to date
- Communicating with group members about the work of Myeloma UK

Yes, to be agreed with volunteer, Volunteers can claim reasonable expenses for travel and for subsistence (i.e. food and drink) costs as a direct result of their volunteering, to be agreed with the Volunteer coordinator beforehand. Mileage is paid at a standard rate of 45p per mile. Train travel will be paid at standard or second class rate. Taxis should only be used for short, local journeys (e.g. transport to or from a railway station) where no public transport is available, or where the use of public transport would be difficult. Volunteers can claim for food and drink during their volunteering shift as follows: Minimum journey time – 5 hours, maximum allowance £5. All expenditure over £5 must be accounted for with receipts. Any expenses are to be agreed beforehand with the Volunteer coordinator and after reading and signing the Myeloma UK Volunteer policy and agreement. - Health and Safety Policy

The training and support you will receive • You will be part of the Myeloma UK Community Fundraising Team and will receive a short core learning package to help you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. • Your Community Fundraiser will be in regular contact with advice and support and to ensure that you have the right materials to carry out your fundraising. - Training provided
