"Iris" Hub Support

The Iris hub isĀ an outreach centre that will provide a safe, welcoming environment for the visually impaired, their families, friends and the local community to enable easy access to information, knowledge, equipment and resources

Volunteers will help in the facility by:

  • Meet and greet visitors and show them around the centre
  • Help with benefit advice and making people aware of visual impairments and services they can access via Pearey House
  • Help with smooth running of workshops and maintaining a safe environment
  • Help in the exchange/loan library - a mixture of tech and gadgets

We are looking for volunteers to assist in the running of the facility one day a week from 9.30am to 3.30pm (Tues, Wed or Thurs). Hours negotiable

Above all it will be a safe warm space.

Skills

  • Understanding and empathy for people with a visual impairment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organised
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role beneficial
