Education Volunteer

• Setup resources and spaces for educational visits to the Castle
• Assist with the delivery of guided tours and educational workshops for a variety of groups including school groups, universities, community groups and more.
• When more experienced, lead guided tours and workshops with the assistance of other volunteers.
• When more experienced, assist staff with the delivery of Outreach activities and workshops offsite.
• Maintain good standards of health and safety and safeguarding during school visits.

This role is primarily during the term time, but volunteers in this role may also like to consider our Engagement Volunteer role which they can be in concurrently and which is all year round.

• Outgoing and willing to speak in public · Enthusiastic about sharing the history of Newcastle
• Good information retention
• Willingness to learn
• Adaptable
• Physically able to manage the stairs in the Castle Keep
• Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
• Experience of teaching is an advantage but not necessary as full training is given.
