The Tyne Housing creative arts studio is a learning space offering opportunities for vulnerable adults to develop creative arts skills in a relaxed, mutually supportive environment.
Volunteer Role and responsibilities:
To assist the studio project worker, Mark Fox, in running creative art sessions for vulnerable adults. These will include:
- To support with group art projects
- To support Individual art projects
- Supporting attendees with art methods and techniques
- To support Music production projects
- To offer refreshments and equipment
- Helping to prepare materials to be used in the sessions
- Encouraging attendees to develop artistic skills
- Ensuring safe working practices are adhered to
- Helping to provide a friendly, safe and supportive environment for individuals who use the workshop and creative studio
- To take part in sessions, making your own art to show attendees that you’re part of our group, and not an outsider looking in
- To and engage with attendees, encourage engagement and assist them to feel relaxed
- To help clear up equipment
- Feel free to suggest ideas about artistic methods to Mark as they might be suitable for group activity
- To assist Mark with potential project planning
Skills
- You will require great communication skills, a willingness to start conversations and be a keen listener
- An enthusiasm for and / or knowledge of creative arts, including: drawing, design, painting, music making and similar
- Though not essential, an enthusiasm for and / or background in working with vulnerable adults
