Walking Group Helper

We are looking for volunteers to help us run a walking group in the East of Newcastle for older people who live locally.

People will come along and enjoy a social time with other people that we support whilst having a local walk.

Volunteers would help people to attend the group, chat to people as they walk and plan future walks.


  • The ability to engage with a range of people and encourage them to get involved
  • We need people who are patient and have an open manner
  • We would simply like our volunteers to be friendly, sociable and able to communicate well with the older people and ourselves

This role forms part of Volunteer Passport Scheme Newcastle and requires you to complete one day of training with Newcastle City Learning. If you would like to apply please email Pam.Robinson@volunteeringmatters.org.uk


  • Age restrictions
  • DBS check required
  • Expenses reimbursed
    We would reimburse travel costs as appropriate
  • Ongoing support
    Support would be offered via the manager of the service and the local link workers who the volunteer would be working closely with.
  • Training provided
    Training would be offered as appropriate to the role.
  • Volunteer induction
    We would offer a basic induction into the role and our organisation
  • Volunteers covered by insurance
    The volunteer would be insured under KeyRing’s cover.
