Business Development and Partnerships Volunteer

Cricketqube is looking for someone with established relationships across local authorities, health networks or the sport and physical activity sector to help us open doors. We deliver cricket and physical activity across the North East and Yorkshire, and while our delivery is strong, we are less well connected than we should be to the people who commission and fund this kind of work.

This role is unusual in that its value lies mostly in who you know and how you read the landscape, rather than in hours worked. If you have spent a career in local government, the NHS, an Active Partnership, or the voluntary sector and you understand how decisions actually get made, you could be genuinely useful to us in very little time.

• The role requires existing knowledge of, and ideally relationships within, the public, health or voluntary and community sector in the North East
• Volunteers in this role will be expected to adhere to strict organisation privacy and confidentiality policies, as well as those expected by law, i.e. GDPR
• Volunteers in this role are expected to adhere to all relevant organisation policies, such as Health and Safety and Safeguarding

Tasks:

•  Advise on how our work is best positioned with local authorities, the Integrated Care Board and health and wellbeing networks
• Make introductions to partners, commissioners and funders where you judge it appropriate
• Help us understand commissioning cycles and where our work fits within them
• Offer constructive challenge on our development priorities and partnership strategy
• Support the CEO in preparing for significant partnership conversations
• Attend a quarterly online advisory meeting alongside our other professional volunteers
• Respect the confidentiality of the organisation, its partners and its participants

Approximately 2 to 3 hours per month, arranged flexibly, plus one online meeting per quarter. 

Skills

This role would suit someone with a background in local government, public health, an Active Partnership, a Community and Voluntary Service, or business development within the charity sector. Retired or semi-retired professionals with strong networks are very welcome.

You will need sound judgement about when an introduction is appropriate, an understanding of how public sector decisions get made, and the confidence to tell us when we are approaching something the wrong way.
