About

Volunteer Centre Newcastle is funded by Newcastle City Council to promote, support and celebrate volunteering across Newcastle upon Tyne. We enhance the quality, quantity, and impact of volunteering locally.  We achieve this by:

  • Supporting people by identifying suitable volunteering roles that match their interests, skills and experience;
  • Enabling places and people to connect, allowing the power of volunteering to impact our communities;
  • Providing infrastructure support to any group or organisation that needs help to recruit volunteers, or advice or guidance on volunteering best practice. We are always on hand when a volunteering need may arise;
  • Championing volunteering, highlighting local need and issues through strategic meetings, events, and forums;

Our services are free of charge to all.  We hold the Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation, providing re-assurance to the people of Newcastle and wider stakeholders that your local Volunteer Centre meets and exceeds national standards.

Since 2005, Volunteer Centre Newcastle has been operated by the national volunteering and social change charity, Volunteering Matters.  We believe that everyone in the UK should have the opportunity to thrive.  So we bring people together to overcome some of society’s most complex issues through the power of volunteering.  We operate a wide range of volunteering programmes across England, Scotland and Wales, involving thousands of volunteers each year.
