As a volunteer at Rainbow Care Group, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for people living with dementia. Your time and energy will help brighten someone’s day and provide meaningful companionship.
Typical tasks include:
- Offering a warm welcome to service users and helping them feel comfortable.
- Supporting staff with social activities such as games, arts & crafts, music, and gentle exercise.
- Chatting and providing companionship to individuals, helping reduce loneliness and isolation.
- Assisting with serving refreshments and mealtimes.
- Supporting service users during group outings or special events.
- Helping set up and tidy away activity materials.
- Offering practical assistance with general centre tasks (e.g., admin support, fundraising events).
This role is ideal for you if you are:
- Friendly, patient, and enjoy spending time with people.
- Interested in learning more about dementia and supporting those affected.
- Reliable and able to work as part of a caring team.
- Looking to gain experience in social care, community support, or healthcare.

Skills & Experience (desirable, but not essential):
- Experience of working or volunteering with older people, or those with dementia.
- Confidence in supporting group activities (e.g., arts, crafts, music, games).
- Basic organisational skills to help with tasks and activities.
- Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety (training provided).
Qualifications (not essential):
- No formal qualifications are required.
- Training will be provided, including dementia awareness and safeguarding adults.
