Christmas Massage Volunteer

One Off Christmas opportunity Timings: 15th Dec / 19th Dec and/or 12th Jan / 14th Jan

Each person who'd like to volunteer needs to sign up individually, and volunteers are not permitted to bring friends, family members, or children along with them on shifts.

If you plan to apply for this role, please note you will need an electronic copy of your recognised qualification and PLI certificate to hand.

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

  • Our massage service gives our guests a rare chance to release tension, relax and totally unwind.
  • If you are a qualified masseuse, come and share your skills and make a real difference to homeless people this Christmas.

Your tasks may include: 

  • During your shift you will provide short sessions for guests with breaks in between. 
  • All treatments are clothed or with tops off if you and the guest are comfortable.   
  • You will be volunteering at our Health & Wellbeing Day(s). These events are an opportunity for members to access a range of health & wellbeing services from the safety and comfort of our Skylight.
  • You will be part of the Activities and Wellbeing Team team along with other roles which may include: Hairdressers, Nail Technicians, Podiatirsts and Physiotherapists.     
  • Our training will show you what to expect when running sessions and the type of sessions that work best for our guests.

Skills

Professional practitioners of traditional massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Indian Head massage or aromatherapy   

You must have a recognised qualification and appropriate insurance.    

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with vulnerable guests.  
  •   
  • A positive attitude and the ability to encourage and motivate guests who may not have had a massage before.     
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to muck in and help the entire activities team throughout your shift.  
  •  
  • Ability to work with the Shift Team and report any potential issues to the shift leader  
  •   
  • Ability to deliver Crisis at Christmas services in a fair manner ensuring that the safety of the guests and volunteers is of paramount importance at all times     

  • Be a positive role model for all volunteers exhibiting behaviours outlined in the Volunteers Code of Conduct
  •     
  • Unfortunately we do not accept reiki or other natural healing practitioners.
