North Tyneside Primary School Reading Support Volunteer

Family Gateway works in partnership with the primary schools across North Tyneside. We provide volunteers to go into the primary schools and support students to read for 10 minutes a day.

Duties include:

  • Report to reception and ask which classroom you will be supporting
  • Ask for the list of children who will be reading to you that day
  • Take the children to the designated area for them to read to you for the time specified by the teacher
  • Take the child back to their class
  • Sign out at reception once you have supported all of the children to read

Level of DBS check required

An Enhanced DBS check with the Barred List information for Working with Children would be required.
