To help raise awareness of sight and hearing loss, promote the organisation’s services, and build positive connections within the local community. Community Engagement Volunteers play an important part in raising the profile of the organisation and increasing understanding of the work we do.
- Represent Vision Northumberland at community events, fairs, and local groups, sharing information about our services.
- Help to set up and run information stands, distributing leaflets and answering basic questions.
- Build relationships/connections with local organisations, clubs, and community centres to raise awareness of sensory loss.
- Signpost people who may benefit from support to our services (no personal advice or casework required)
- Share ideas and feedback from the community to help shape our work
- Work alongside staff and other volunteers to promote inclusion and accessibility.
Location: Various locations around Northumberland
Skills
- Friendly, approachable, and confident talking to members of the public.
- Reliable and organised, with good communication skills.
- Respectful of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Passionate about inclusion and equality for people living with sensory loss.
- Able to travel locally to events (expenses reimbursed)
- (Knowledge of sight or hearing loss is helpful but not essential — training is provided.)
