Antenatal & Breastfeeding Support

The Best Start Team work with parents and families in Newcastle. We provide breastfeeding and antenatal information and support. Our Best Start volunteers are an incredibly important part of what we do. They offer practical and emotional support through pregnancy and the breastfeeding journey. All are trained by our skilled and experienced team to enable them to offer this help.

You will provide one to one support either in person or over the phone.

This support can include:

  • preparing for birth
  • writing a birth plan
  • having a healthy pregnancy
  • bonding with baby
  • responsive parenting
  • infant feeding choices, and more.

You will run breastfeeding social groups alongside our practitioners in Newcastle, and engage with parents using a variety of other channels.

Our 12 week training starts in April and will be on a Tuesday 10.30 - 2pm

Skills

  • All of our volunteers must have breastfeeding experience, either from feeding a baby from the breast directly or from expressing breastmilk to feed a baby
  • All volunteers need to have a Newcastle postcode
