Caretaking team

Your role as a caretaker is to set up the room ready for the group, and tidy up the room at the end of the session.

Tasks include:

  • Opening up the room at around 3pm
  • Turning on the lights
  • Boiling hot water for the urn
  • Putting tea, coffee, sugar, cups, beakers, teaspoons and the urn out for people to use
  • Putting chairs in a circle
  • Washing cups and beakers
  • Emptying left over hot water from the urn
  • Putting away the tea, coffee, sugar, cups, beakers, teaspoons and the urn
  • Putting away extra chairs  Washing the tables
  • Hoovering the floor  Changing the binbag
  • Turning off the lights  Locking the door and returning the key  

Skills

  • Tidy, organised and practical,
  • open-minded,
  • non-judgmental,
  • able to encourage and promote a safe, friendly environment,
  • willing to be involved in a group project, initiative and ability to volunteer unsupervised, while knowing when and how to ask for advice.
