Gardening

We would be very grateful for a volunteer to help our facilities manager take care of our outdoor spaces. This will involve the following:

• Watering, feeding, and monitoring plants.
• Mowing lawns, weeding, and clearing debris. 
• Preparing soil, planting seeds or seedlings, and transplanting plants. 
• Operating garden machinery like mowers, trimmers, and other equipment. 
• Maintaining paths and walkways
• Preparing gardens for different seasons, including planting seasonal bedding displays. 

The volunteer would not have overall responsibility for the above unless they specifically wanted to. 

Skills

• The volunteer does not have to have had a career in gardening, a healthy interest would suffice.
• The person needs understand the requirement of working in a school and around young children.
• Knowledge of planting
• Willingness to work outdoors
• Knowledge of health & safety both of the role itself and working in a school.
• This opportunity will involve physical work like digging, lifting and carrying.
