Great North Run Cheer Station Volunteer

The legendary Great North Run sees 60,000 half marathon runners take to the streets of Newcastle, crossing the iconic Tyne Bridge and finishing in sunny South Shields.

Join us at our charity cheer station to represent Breakthrough T1D on race day, and give the Team Breakthrough T1D runners the best experience possible.

Based a short distance from mile 12, along the Coast Road (A183) in South Shields, our charity cheer station volunteers will help to form the face of Breakthrough T1D on Great North Run day.

What will I be doing? 

• Providing support for runners taking part in the Great North Run
• Looking out for runners wearing Breakthrough T1D tops and pointing them out to your fellow cheerers
• Cheering and helping to make our cheer station the loudest on the event route!
• Helping to support families of our runners who may also come and use the cheer station as a point to see their loved one

The Cheer Station is a short distance from mile 12 of the Great North Run route, along the Coast Road (A183) in South Shields

Skills

• No experience is necessary.
• We are just looking for people who are enthusiastic about supporting Breakthrough T1D, and who aren’t afraid to get stuck in and create a fun atmosphere for our runners and their supporters.

Please note:

• this role may require you to be outside and on your feet for a long time. We will not provide any seating, but you will be welcome to take breaks when you need to.
• - if you are under the age of 18 you will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is over 18 and will be responsible for you while you volunteer.
