We are looking for an individual who is trained in cutting afro and/or textured hair.
As a Healthcare Volunteer, you will be using your professional experience to support our members at our Skylights to access healthcare, addressing some of the barriers experienced by people who are experiencing homelessness when they try to seek health services. You will use your professional experience to provide flexible advice and guidance, appointments and empower our members to feel confident in accessing services.
asks you may support with include:
- Supporting regular health care events/opportunities within the SkylightÂ
- Providing appointments to our members in a mix of ways where relevant (in person, by phone and virtually)
- Adapting to our members needs
Timings: Health & Wellbeing Event dates are to be confirmed but we usually run 4 per year, each lasting 3-4 hours.
We will ask you to provide copies of relevant qualifications/insurance cover - you should have these documents available when applying so you can input any relevant information. You will also need to provide details for one referee
Skills
To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who:
- Is experienced in the area specified above
- Has an understanding of health services and referral routes available in the local area
- Is passionate about working towards an inclusive health system for those experiencing homelessness
- Is empathetic and compassionate to the needs of those experiencing homelessness
- Is able to communicate well with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including those who have a range of needs (for example mental health and substance misuse) and who may have English as a second language
- Is a good listener and patient
- Understands the importance of keeping an individual’s personal information secure and private and working within the boundaries of the role to keep everyone safe
- Is passionate about standing with Crisis and our members to end homelessness
