Hexham Retreat Organic and Sustainable Gardening and Woodland support

Located in Northumberland National Park, Land of Joy is a residential retreat centre, operating in harmony with its natural surroundings. We provide a peaceful and supportive environment where people attend and benefit from our buddhist or non-buddhist retreats and other events

Each year a small team of gardeners uses organic and permaculture techniques to plant and nurture many varieties of vegetables and flowers in the two poly tunnels and outside beds.

In the summer, the garden produces delicious and healthy produce for retreatants and volunteers to enjoy, as well as beautiful flowers to offer on the altars and display around the house.

We also have extensive woodlands to maintain to support local wildlife
