Launderette

Our community launderette is a long standing and much valued resource in Shieldfield.

As well as providing a service for our walk-in customers, we also provide a laundry service for older people who unable to do their own laundry and people in hospital who have no one to do their personal laundry.

You would be joining a committed and friendly team of volunteers, without whom we could not offer our low-cost services.

We offer induction, training, and support to all our volunteers as well as travel expenses.

We also offer lunch expenses for volunteers who work a longer shift

  • Taking laundry from customers and advising them on when it will be ready
  • Taking payment for laundry services, mainly through card payment
  • Load washing machines and tumble driers
  • Fold and bag clean laundry
  • Help keep the workplace clean and tidy
  • Follow Health and Safety procedures.

No formal qualifications may be necessary since induction and training are provided. However previous experience in a customer-facing role and familiarity with laundry tasks and equipment would be helpful.
