Volunteer Befriending - Dovecot Residential & Nursing Home

Volunteering is a great way for us to support our residents to stay connected with their local communities and have the special one-to-one time and stimulation that volunteers can offer. Not all of our residents have family or friends who can visit them regularly so volunteers can offer a valuable link to the wider world, by giving their attention to individual residents, or by sharing their skills and experiences with a small group.

We welcome volunteers who want to help, including supporting our residents with leisure and social activities, befriending, gardening and maintenance, driving, helping with events, clerical and administration support and in the kitchen.

Located in High Spen, a small village in suburban Gateshead, Dovecote is just a stones throw from a range of shops, restaurants and other amenities. The home also has very good transport links to the Metro Centre and surrounding towns and cities, including Newcastle.

Our dedicated team provides a range of care and support for our residents, including dementia, residential, nursing and respite care.
