COOKERY CLASS ASSISTANT

As a Cookery Class Assistant, you will be supporting us with:

• Helping participants follow the step-by-step instructions after demonstrations
• Assisting the trainer in getting demonstrations set up before and during the class
• Making sure participants are enjoying the class and offering assistance where appropriate
• Collecting equipment during the class ensuring workstations are clear of clutter
• Washing up equipment during and at the end of the class
• Ensuring everyone is following good safety and food hygiene protocols

EACH COOKERY CLASS IS TYPICALLY 3 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER TIME WITH CLASSES TAKING PLACE IN DIFFERENT VENUES ACROSS NEWCASTLE AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS

• there is no regular day/time and it does change from week-to-week depending on what projects are happening
• there are typically daytime, evening and weekend sessions available though

What you will need to complete to become a Cookery Class Assistant:

• Attend a training workshop with Nourish Food School

OPTIONAL:

• There are sometimes opportunities with Nourish to do Food Hygiene training.
• Agree to our volunteer expectations of: aiming to volunteer on at least 4 occasions, (although there is no maximum),
• having excellent personal hygiene,
• dress appropriately,
• sharing our values for doing things to the highest standard
