Do you enjoy making things happen? Are you organised with an eye for detail? We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to lead a community club, either on your own, with a friend or as part of a team.

Role Background

Across Britain, Royal Voluntary Service community clubs provide warm and welcoming spaces where people feel included, valued and connected. Whether enjoying activities such as arts and crafts, reading, exercise, singing, games, gardening, or simply a cup of tea and a chat, our club members are supported by amazing volunteers who help create places for people to meet, make friends and feel they belong.

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will be at the heart of this mission. By leading a volunteer team, you will make a real difference to your community, bringing people together to run a local club and ensuring everyone feels welcomed and supported.

What You'll Do

·       Lead and coordinate a team of friendly volunteers – by guiding and encouraging a volunteer team, you will ensure the club remains a vibrant, safe and welcoming space for everyone. You’ll also help in the recruitment of new volunteers, supporting their induction and development.

·       Organise activities – working with your team of volunteers, you’ll help plan and oversee a schedule of fun, fulfilling group activities.

·       Welcome members and guests – ensure everyone feels comfortable and included from day one.

·       Be the main contact between the club and Royal Voluntary Service – you’ll receive and share updates, provide feedback and ensure club sessions run smoothly.

·       Keep activities running safely – following Royal Voluntary Service guidance.

·       Be an ambassador for Royal Voluntary Service – by promoting the club and acting as a positive link within your wider community.

Our clubs run weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Depending on the frequency, the average commitment for this role is 2-4 hours a week.

• Organisation skills – coordinate and help plan fun and enjoyable sessions and activities with your team.
• Reliability and commitment – able to attend sessions and ensure activities run safely and smoothly.

Starting Your Volunteering Journey

As with many organisations, we will require proof of identity and address. For some roles (depending on the type of club and activity), this may be included as part of a criminal record check known as a DBS in England and Wales and a PVG in Scotland.

You will also be asked to provide the details of two referees as part of your application so we can obtain references before you begin volunteering.

We provide a full induction and all appropriate training relevant to your role, and you’ll have the ongoing support of a dedicated RVS representative throughout your volunteer journey with us.
