Trustee

The Board is responsible for governance of the charity including major policy, long term direction and accountability.

Collectively it takes important decisions on Northern Stage’s strategic direction, including the approval of the business plan, budgets and appointment of the Chief Executive and Artistic Director.

Our trustees have a range of skills and experience to inform debate and decision-making.

Trustees fulfil their role by actively participating in board meetings, committees and working groups, attending events and where appropriate, working one-to-one with team members on specific projects that utilise your skills, knowledge and experience.

We are keen to find new trustees with skills and experience in:

• commercial/business sector
• North East theatre sector
• safeguarding
• fundraising

We are equally keen to hear from candidates who do not have these backgrounds but believe they could actively contribute to our thinking and our success.

We are looking for 3 new trustees to join our board this Autumn due to upcoming retirements.

Charity trustees are volunteers and the role is not paid.

However reasonable expenses such as travel or childcare can be met to enable a broad range of people to take up the role.

Appointments are for four years, renewable up to eight years in total
