Jesmond Community Forum is an umbrella organisation where the many community groups of Jesmond can come together to share experiences, ideas, information and support, for the benefit of the community at large. It also produces the annual Jesmond Festival in May, in which many of these organisations arrange their own events under the banner of the Festival.
The role of Trustee does not require very much time or work, though it does include a legal responsibility along with the other Trustees, to ensure that the organisation complies with its legal obligations.
- Assisting in the development of the annual Jesmond Festival (runs though all of May)
- Representing the needs of the community in Jesmond
- Occasional activities such as liaising with Jesmond groups, businesses or individuals ; contributing to social media ; taking materials to events ; etc.
- Attending approx 5 meeting a year (early evenings, usually in Jesmond Library)
- Developing their network of contacts across the community
About 5 meeting a year, plus occasional other activities is appropriate.
Skills
Trustees must have good working knowledge and experience of at least one of the community organisations in Jesmond.
