Technical Support

AbilityNet technical support volunteers provide assistance to disabled and elderly people in their own homes. Typical tasks may include

  1. Setting up new tech
  2. Fixing issues with computer hardware or software (including tablets and phones)
  3.  Setting up accounts e.g. email Facebook, Online shopping etc.
  4. Connecting the client to friends and family
  5. Providing training on how to access online services e.g. NHS
  6. Providing training on how to safely access online banking

There is no timetable to this type of role. The client contact AbilityNet and a volunteer is assigned to that client. The Volunteer calls the client to arrange a visit at their mutual convenience.

Skills

  1. You do not have to be a technical guru but you should have some experience of being an IT user in a variety of environments.
  2. Dealing with our clients requires patience and understanding and therefore good people skills would be a bonus
