Everyone likes a bit of retail therapy, don’t they?
Art Fair / Craft volunteers that are involved in the setting up of our bi-annual Art Fair events, are the first to see all the products before we are open to the public.
What’s involved?
- Create a great first impression
- Welcome, and answer visitors’ questions about the Art Centre
- Keep a note of how many visitors are coming into the event
- Look after the visiting exhibitors by offering refreshments
- Sell items for the Hearth i.e. annual calendar
- Produce packs to distribute to the community via various ‘partners’ e.g. No. 28 Community Support in Hexham, West End of Newcastle Food Bank, Age UK West End of Newcastle, Wylam & Heddon Library, Chrysalis Tynedale etc. The packs are made up of materials purchased and are suitable for young people, older residents or families.
- Help to run small art and craft workshops. This involves setting up the hall, serving refreshments and clearing up.
- You are important in making sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible – this includes getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures and being aware of overall security
By getting involved, you could…
- Enjoy chatting to the artists and visitors
- Help us make a profit to support the Art Centre
- Be first to see all the great items being sold at the event
Our art fairs are held twice a year over a week end in April and December
Skills
- Enjoy meeting people and are keen to make each visitor feel special
- Enjoy learning new skills
- Enjoy working in the creative arts
