Director of Governance, Safeguarding & Social Care Insight

Provide gentle oversight and guidance to help Ever Unity operate safely and ethically
Review policies, programs, courses, and support groups to ensure they are trauma‑aware and appropriate for families
Offer insight into the care system, fostering, social care processes, or family support
Support good governance and help shape Ever Unity’s direction and decision‑making
Attend 4–6 board meetings per year and offer light advice between meetings when needed
Work alongside a founder with lived experience to create safe, empowering support for families
Join a warm, family‑centred organisation where directors and their families are invited to community events

Skills

Understanding of the care system, fostering, social care, education, youth work or family support
Awareness of safeguarding principles and trauma‑informed practice
Ability to review policies, programs and support groups for safety and suitability
Calm, non‑judgemental and family‑centred approach
Good communication and listening skills
Ability to offer balanced guidance and oversight
Reliability and commitment to attending board meetings
Respect for confidentiality and ethical practice
No formal qualifications required — lived or professional experience is equally valued

Ever Unity is in its early development stages, and directors will have the opportunity to help shape our direction as we grow. Directors and their families will be invited to special events, such as our Winter Ball, to meet the families they are supporting and as a thank‑you for their contribution. Optional outreach opportunities may also be available for those who wish to be more involved.

Availability Details

Volunteers would need to be available for meetings every 2 months (6 times a year). Availability is flexible. The wide range of times selected reflects that meetings will be arranged at times that suit all directors
