Can you spare a few hours a week to brighten someone’s day?
We are committed to supporting our blind veterans no matter where they are. Home visitors provide crucial social interaction for our veterans who can often feel isolated or lonely or struggle to complete tasks around the home.
We have a veteran in the North Shields area who would very much like someone to visit them at home for a cuppa and chat, and to access the local community once the partnership is established. By popping by once a week or fortnight, you could be the friendly face that makes all the difference to our veterans
Although you will be working in the community independently, your manager is only a phone call away and there is a network of other volunteers for you to link in with too.
- Provide friendly and reliable social interaction for our veterans
- Encourage veterans to get involved in community activites and lunch clubs
- Support veterans carrying out daily activities that they may otherwise struggle to complete (this does not include personal care or cleaning duties)
The role can be flexible around your other commitments, but we ask that you are reliable and punctual for our veterans. You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.
