Stores Keeping Volunteer

Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter successfully rehome hundreds of dogs and cats every year providing them a second chance at living a happy and fulfilled life. 

We have several stores areas for the keeping of animal supplies and donation to our charity shops 

Your volunteer role will help with the organisation of our storage and donation areas, which enables us to feed and provide resources to our animals and maximise our income from donated goods.   


What you will be doing?

 

Helping to organise all of our storage areas on site including food, bedding and donation storage areas.  

 

Assist in moving any donations into the correct storage areas# 

 

Sorting of donations to ensure they are suitable, of good quality and usable.  

 

Rotate food stock to ensure all food is usable and within date. 

 

Ensure that all storage areas are kept tidy and organised for easy access. 

 

Ensuing that storage areas meet health and safety requirements.

Skills

What you need for this role?

A willingness to complete a Manual Handling Awareness course as part of your induction to the role.   

 An understanding of health and safety guidelines would be beneficial 

A willingness to work outside in all weather conditions is essential. 

 

Ability to lift and carry heavy items 

An ability to work well with othersstaff and volunteers across the shelter, as well as working independently 

Enthusiasm and good team working skills.  

Able to adapt quickly and work in a fast-paced environment. 

A love of dogs and cats!

Availability Details

We are looking for volunteers twice a week for 3 hour period in the afternoon, a weekly commitment is required. On occasion we may ask you to help at shelter fundraising events outside of these hours, if you are able to do so.
