Corporate partnership

GLOW Newcastle is excited to share this opportunity to support our pilot Creative Skills and Careers Clubs in six schools across Newcastle.   This rewarding project enables primary and secondary school children from some of our most underserved communities to experience skilled work by artists and other professionals which supports their creativity and employability.

We’re looking for practical, hands-on help, donations, construction skills, model-making skills, and drop-in sessions to showcase a particular line of work.
We would be interested in working with a single corporate partner to “adopt” the programme across all six sites, and smaller organisations who can support a local school.
Volunteers will not necessarily be working directly with children.  However anyone accessing the sites during the school day will require enhanced DBS clearance, or to be accompanied at all times by a member of staff.  Enhanced DBS clearance can be obtained through GLOW Newcastle and costs around £60.
GLOW Newcastle is an independent charity which has grown out of Newcastle’s Local Cultural Education Partnership.  We exist to ensure that young people in Newcastle upon Tyne, aged 0-25 years, have access to high quality cultural and creative experiences and opportunities.  We work primarily with young people who experience barriers to engaging with cultural and creative opportunities outside their school, college or home.
We have launched three clubs this week, and will be launching three more in the autumn.  Potential examples of volunteering roles at each:
  1. Installing an external, vinyl printed banner designed by pupils and either constructing or installing some paneling on a school site, West Denton
  2. Planting up a primary school prayer garden, West Denton
  3. Constructing basic play spaces, Benwell
  4. Constructing basic mini puppet theatre play spaces, Benwell
  5. Planting up a wild garden space, Newbiggin Hall
  6. Landscaping a nature trail, Newbiggin Hall
