Fundraiser

As a Volunteer Fundraiser you will help with the planning and running of fundraising events, local sponsorship, and raising funds locally through giving talks, locating donation boxes in the community and other ways of raising funds, in line with MHA policies.

This role may be undertaken in conjunction with a role on the Local Committee

  • To assist the manager and Local Committee with the planning, organising and running of fundraising events
  • The tasks involved will vary according to the event, this this may include identifying suitable venues, planning programmes, producing publicity materials and co-ordinating ticket sales
  • Give talks / presentations to local groups like the Lions and W.I in the hope of encouraging them to raise funds for the service
  • Assist with the organisation of local business fundraising and sponsorship
  • You will help other volunteers to organise donation box events in the community
  • To liaise with your named contact regarding tasks and deadlines
  • To attend any volunteer meetings as required
  • To be familiar with and to adhere MHA’s Health and Safety Policies and policies relating to your volunteering role
  • To inform your named contact at the earliest opportunity of any change in circumstances which affect your ability to continue with volunteering, such as holidays or periods of time you cannot volunteer.

Skills

  • Good communication skills, including communicating with people face to face, over the telephone and via email.
  • Fundraising skills, including time spent as a fundraiser either in a paid or voluntary position
  • You will have good time management, and prioritisation skills
  • Flexibility
  • You will be confident and a motivational public speaker
  • You will be able to work under direction, but with limited supervision
  • You’ll have an awareness of older people in the local community
  • You’ll have a passion for people
  • You will be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
