Pie Club Leaders

As a Volunteer Leader you will: 

  • Be the friendly face of your Pie Club.
  • Oversee the weekly running of your Pie Club.
  • Shop for the ingredients for the chosen recipes each week.
  • Ensure that the relationship is strong with the host venue.
  • Manage your Pie Men, ensuring that everyone is treated equally, and with respect. 
  • Help to welcome in new members.
  • Complete basic admin tasks for your group.
  • Liaise regularly with your group, including ‘checking in’ on those absent for a few weeks via phone and/or email.

Regionwide (Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North & South Tyneside, Northumberland and County Durham).  Volunteers will be matched to a new or existing club according to their location.

The current locations and times are as follows:

  • MPC Byker - Byker Sands Family Centre, NE6 2FF - Mondays 10am to 12pm
  • MPC Whitley Bay - Whitley Bay Big Local, NE26 2LY - Mondays 1:30pm to 3:30pm and Thursdays 1pm to 3pm
  • MPC Ouseburn - Ouseburn Community Centre, NE6 5PA - Mondays 5:30pm to 7pm and Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm
  • MPC Throckley - Throckley Old Hall, NE15 9EL - Wednesdays 10am to 12pm
  • MPC Fenham - Fenham Library, NE4 9XD - Wednesdays 2:30pm to 4:30pm and Thursdays 2pm to 4pm
  • MPC Benwell - Carnegie Building, NE4 8XS - Thursdays 12:30pm to 2:30pm
  • MPC Wallsend - Life Vineyard Church, NE28 7NP - Thursdays 5pm to 7pm
  • MPC ReCoCo - No 1 Carliol Square, NE1 6UF - Thursdays 2pm to 4pm (fortnightly, open to ReCoCo students only)
  • MPC Sunderland City - Betsy Jenny Counselling and Wellbeing Cafe, SR1 1TE - Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm
  • MPC McColl's - McColl's Brewery & Taproom, DL14 9SJ - Saturdays 10am to 12pm (fortnightly)
  • MPC Chopwell - The Bank, NE17 7HU - Saturdays 2pm to 4pm
  • MPC South Shields - Action Station South Tyneside, NE34 0LZ - Mondays and Wednesdays 1pm to 3pm
  • MPC Jarrow - Big Local Jarrow, NE32 3QN - Thursdays 10am to 12pm
  • MPC Sacriston - Woodshed Workshop, DH7 6PD - Thursdays 10am to 12pm
  • MPC Felling - Felling Community Centre, NE10 9DT - Thursdays 2pm to 4pm
  • MPC Leam Lane - St Andrews Church, NE10 8HR - Thursdays 10am to 12pm
  • MPC Middleton-in-Teesdale - UTASS, DL12 0SN - Thursdays 1pm to 3pm

Skills

  • Men's Pie Club asks that you are respectful and welcoming to members from all walks of life, and feel that you could encourage a positive environment among others in the group. 
  • You do not need to be a skilled cook.  We simply ask that you have an interest in food.
  • If you some experience of leading a group or others, then this would be beneficial.
  • We would ask that you undertake some basic training, to best prepare you for your new role as a Pie Club Leader.
