About the project:
Your Voice Counts offers a monthly support group to trans adults (18+) who have a learning disability and or are autistic in the South Tyneside area. The group is a place to chat, offer support and raise awareness on trans issues
How can you help?
We are looking for a volunteer to:
- help run the group monthly
- help plan meetings & communicate plans to attendees
- support conversations around trans and everyday issues
- offer verbal support based on individual needs e.g. advice on travel, reminders for meetings, help to read or write something
- help to raise awareness of trans issues & transphobic hate crime
- help to develop and deliver information sessions
Monthly on Tuesdays 2.30pm – 4pm (First Tuesday of each month) in South Shields - location to be confirmed when applying
Skills
We would love to hear from people who:
- have a friendly & positive outlook
- have good communication & listening skills
- are kind, helpful & caring
- are passionate about making a difference to the lives of others
- experience of supporting people is desirable but not essential
- experience of trans issues is essential.
