Ward Support Volunteer – Newcastle Hospice

Spend time chatting with patients, enjoying activities like reading, board games or crosswords together, and help make their day a little brighter. Availability: 2-3 hours per week, weekdays

Brighten someone’s day by supporting with the following:

  • Spend time chatting with patients and learning about their interests
  • Plan and offer simple activities such as reading, card or board games, crosswords, or music
  • Enjoy refreshments with patients
  • Accompany patients to appointments, the garden, or communal areas (as approved by the Nurse in Charge)
  • Set out crockery and cutlery before meals and tidy away afterwards
  • Refill patients’ water jugs 

Time: Flexible to suit your schedule

Criteria:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • A Criminal Record Check is required for this opportunity - Marie Curie will cover the cost of this.
